María Elena

María Elena Technical and Scientific-Humanistic High School

At SQM, we actively support the education of students in María Elena, strengthening their skills through educational programs focused on digital abilities and specialized technical training.

Achievements:

  • I work alongside students specializing in Chemical Laboratory at the high school, who hold their classes once a week in the SQM Iodine Plant Nutrition laboratories in Coya Sur.
  • I also provide training to teachers to keep them at the forefront of the industry and strengthen the learning processes within the specialty.

Tocopilla and Mejillones

International Chemistry Day

To mark International Chemistry Day, we actively participated in the initiative led by ASIQUIM, holding the first-ever «Chemical Industry Open House.»

This event provided an engaging and educational way to demonstrate how chemistry impacts the daily lives of all Chileans. Participants included high school and university students, representatives from neighborhood associations, and local authorities.

During the event, attendees learned about:

  • Production processes, from raw materials to finished products.
  • The applications of chemistry in various sectors.
  • The chemical industry’s connection to communities and regional, national, and international institutions.
  • How these companies contribute to the social, economic, and educational development of neighboring communities.
