First Regional Job Fair
The first Regional Job Fair was a success, bringing together more than 1,000 people looking for new job opportunities.
Organized by the Regional Employment Project, the activity brought together leading companies from the mining, industrial, service and education sectors, creating a unique space for direct contact between workers and employers, while also consolidating strategic alliances for developing the region’s human capital.
During the event, the organization signed important collaboration agreements with entities like Impulsa 4.0, CEIM and ASPEN, and renewed commitments from important members of the job ecosystem such as CODELCO, SQM Iodine Plant Nutrition, SQM Lithium and the Antofagasta Industrial Association.
Pedro Pablo Rivera, Deputy Manager for Talent Attraction and Diversity at SQM Iodine Plant Nutrition, commented: “We’re happy to take part in this event. We reached out to our local suppliers, who have come with job offers for workers throughout the region. Thanks to the joint effort with other mining companies and their suppliers, we have publicized more than 1,000 job offers, which makes us proud.”

The rector of Universidad Católica del Norte, Dr. María Cecilia Hernández, highlighted: “When we see all the actors present and the public that came out, we understand how the cluster has worked from different sectors in our region. This is one of many big steps we will take as key members of the Antofagasta Region, where the public, private and academic sectors converge.”
The Regional Secretary of Labor and Social Welfare, Camila Cortés Ruiz, highlighted the Regional Employment program’s public-private partnership to promote local hiring. According to her, “This first job fair came about from these efforts to provide real job opportunities to the inhabitants of the region and contributes to lowering regional unemployment rates, which are below the national average of 6.4%.”
