Mining Council welcomes SQM as a new member

The Mining Council, an industry association of large-scale mining companies in Chile, officially approved SQM as a new member during the association's last board meeting.

SQM, a global mining company based in northern Chile, has five business lines: Specialty Plant Nutrition, Iodine and derivatives, Lithium and derivatives, Potassium and Solar Salts. Through these lines, it participates in strategic industries for sustainable development, such as health, food, technology and clean energy.

“We are very pleased to welcome SQM to the Mining Council. Its leadership in its business areas and the innovation it is known for will contribute to our efforts to drive the country’s development,” said Joaquín Villarino, Executive President of the Mining Council.

Gonzalo Guerrero, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SQM, commented, “SQM and its team hope to contribute to the Mining Council’s work to address the industry’s challenges and bring mining closer to Chile and its people. SQM is committed to the sustainable development of mining and the country, and participating in this association is one more step we can take to promote responsible, innovative practices that contribute to the community and society as a whole.”
