Family Fun Run kicks off Sustainable Summer in the municipality of María Elena

Family Fun Run kicks off Sustainable Summer in the municipality of María Elena

Activities will continue through the end of February thanks to joint efforts between the municipality, Fundación Cultural, the MES program, SQM, Minera Antucoya and Cerro Dominador

Taking care of the planet, playing sports and promoting healthy living, preserving heritage and promoting gastronomy and tourism are some of the pillars of the summer project, “María Elena Veranea, together we do it better,” which, in conjunction with social innovation, works in collaboration with the municipality, Fundación Cultural, the MES program, SQM, Minera Antucoya and Cerro Dominador.

The goal of this unprecedented collaboration is that the community, in addition to having fun, can also participate in training workshops that enhance skills and teamwork, strengthening the social development of children, youth, adults and senior citizens, promoting the sustainable growth of the district and the common good of its neighbors.

For example, the María Elena Sostenible (MES) program contributes to this collaborative challenge with interesting dynamics, such as the Vagón de Las Letras, Ruta Pampina and workshops on music, culture, heritage and athletic skills, among others.

The “María Elena Veranea, together we do it better” activities kicked off started with an entertaining Family Fun Run, for all ages from children to senior citizens, and was characterized by joy, integration and multidimensionality.

The activity, which included zumba and a color run, this time added a competitive component, in which participants competed for the grand prize of a bicycle for the Family, Youth and All Competitor categories.

The winners per category were: Winners: Carlos Valencia and Martina Valencia, Family Category; Juan Collao, Adult Category; and Jairo Uriona, Youth Category.

OTHER ACTIVITIES

Continuing with the idea of having fun but in a sustainable way, “María Elena Veranea, together we do it better” will run until the end of February, with a varied schedule of activities for all ages.

“As a company we are very happy to join this initiative that lets us offer the community a robust schedule of summer activities linked to key themes in our corporate sustainability plan such as culture, heritage, sports and healthy living, among others. These pillars are key to contributing to the comprehensive and sustainable development of the inhabitants of María Elena. We invite the whole Pampa family to join these free activities and play an active role in María Elena Veranea”.

The hallmark of this innovative summer initiative is collaboration, associativity and public-private efforts, to increase the impact of these activities and add other integration spaces, such as, for example, social workshops, where the municipality and Fundación Cultural work hand in hand with the María Elena Sostenible (MES) program and its network of companies, notably SQM, Minera Antucoya and Cerro Dominador.
