Innovafest 2023: the first version of the largest science, technology and innovation festival in the north was a success

Innovafest 2023: the first version of the largest science, technology and innovation festival in the north was a success

The two-day event achieved its objectives of bringing together and linking entrepreneurs and domestic and international technology centers with the public, educational and private community of the Antofagasta Region

On November 22 and 23, Antofagasta hosted the INNOVAFEST 2023 science, innovation and technology festival, positioning itself as a hub for educational centers, the public and private sectors to develop regional human capital. The event featured more than 60 exhibitor stands and 40 domestic and international speakers on topics such as digital transformation, climate change, women and science, the development of science, technology, knowledge and innovation (CTCI in Spanish) in the macrozone and talks and success stories of innovative entrepreneurship.

After the activity, Nelson Rubilar, executive director of the UCN Science and Technology Park, commented: “We are very happy because we had great attendance over two intense but productive days, with many free activities for the community. Among the things we can highlight are the large number of connections made by all attendees, which undoubtedly will bear great fruit in their ventures, research or business ideas.”

The event was attended by Governor Ricardo Diaz, who emphasized that: “The good news is that we are all on the same page, we all believe that the Antofagasta Region has potential, has development and has a future. We are very happy with the work that has been done here, with this virtuous circle between the university, the private and the public world, which has borne fruit once again.

For his part, SQM’s Corporate Affairs Manager for Nitrates and Iodine, Pablo Pisani, said: “As a company we are working to promote initiatives that foster an ecosystem around innovation, new technologies and entrepreneurship, with conversation spaces focused on the region’s challenges and projections in this area. Therefore, we are very pleased to support this event for the first time, which is in line with our corporate sustainability plan and various environmental goals and commitments.

Innovafest 2023 was organized by the Science and Technology Park and Universidad Católica del Norte, with the support of SQM an official sponsor of the event.
