Responsible Care
Progress Status
Since 2013, Nueva Victoria has adopted the principles of the international chemical industry initiative Responsible Care® at its iodine and iodide production plants, achieving Level 2 certification. This commitment has guided its roadmap toward responsible management, focused on the continuous improvement of safety, health, and environmental performance, strengthening its commitment to sustainable practices and operational excellence.
2020: Thanks to our continuous investments in R&D, we have been able to increase our operational and energetic efficiency, as well as starting recycling campaigns, establishing stable relationship through co-created programs with the Center for Agricultural Research and Development of Pozo Almonte included in the Community Relations Category, due to its contribution to the strengthening of the agricultural and livestock activity in the area, boosting family economy.
2021: The Tocopilla Port obtained a Responsible Care certification, which will be valid for 3 years, in order to begin the re-verification stage.
2022: Planta Nueva Victoria underwent re-verification for a period of three years, achieving Level 1 certification. This level signifies that the plant "continuously exceeds the expectations of the Verification Team." This means that Planta Nueva Victoria demonstrates a robust implementation of Responsible Care practices and even surpasses them in most of the various application areas of the Responsible Care Management System. 2023: The Nueva Victoria Iodine Plant trained its staff in conjunction with ASIQUIM in the “Responsible Care Management System Auditor Training Workshop”, thus strengthening their skills in their iodine and iodide processes.
2024: This year, a site visit was conducted to gather information and develop a work plan focused on diagnosing the iodine processes at Pedro de Valdivia and the iodide processes at Pampa Blanca. The objective was to identify opportunities for improvement aligned with the principles of Responsible Care. In addition, skills development continued in collaboration with ASIQUIM, through the participation of iodine and iodide operation personnel in the “Responsible Care Management System Auditor Training Workshop.”
2024: In August, we successfully completed the re-verification audit process at the Port of Tocopilla, achieving a level of certification from Level 2 to Level 1, the highest level of Responsible Care, after meeting 100% of the established and demanding criteria. This verification certificate will be valid until August 19, 2027. View certification here (Spanish)
