More than 50 people participated in heritage walk

As part of Heritage Day celebrations, more than 50 people gathered at the Huanchaca Ruins to take part in a heritage walk that transported them back in time, visiting the remains of the old Playa Blanca Industrial Establishment.

“We are very happy to support this type of initiative, where participants were able to rediscover the history and architecture of the former Playa Blanca Industrial Complex, through a guided tour full of history,” commented Gloria Cartagena, Head of Public Affairs for SQM Iodine Plant Nutrition.

Claudio Lagos, Regional Director of the Chilean National Cultural Heritage Service, stressed the importance of this type of initiative: “It is essential for citizens to learn about the heritage and legacy of the Huanchaca Ruins. The more people know about it, the more they can care for and protect it.”

The activity was organized in conjunction with Fundación Ruinas de Huanchaca, whose Executive Director, Catalina Prieto, noted: “We are delighted to help draw attention to and promote the cultural and natural heritage of the Antofagasta Region. We have welcomed more than 2 thousand people to the various activities we have organized as a foundation.”
